Olympic Champion Rochelle Stevens track meet started with an Opening Ceremony filled with U.S. Olympic Flags, Olympic Day Flag honoring 2016 Rio Olympics, sponsors, mascots, college coaches, clubs and team coaches marched into the track stadium to the Olympic Theme Music.
College coaches, recruiters and scouts had their hands filled with recruiting athletes from seven states with 700 athletes competing for awards and scholarships.
The Master's and Senior's Division inspired parents and coaches to get ready to run for next years meet.
Mr. Bud 70 years old was ranked 2nd in the U.S 400 meters. Mr. Phil 80 years old was ranked 2nd in the 100 meters. Linda Cofield 62 years old was ranked 1st in the U.S. Women 400 meters. Nicole Lincoln of Chicago won the Master's Women 44-49 year old 100, 200 & long jump. On the elite side Bless Dutch of Ghana a junior at University of Arkansas, Little Rock graced us with 53.66 in the Women 400 meters and Jerod Kepepeca of West Africa out ran everyone clocking 10.23 in the 100 meters.
One of the most exciting races on the track was the 50 meters dash for 2 to 5 year old girls and boys.
Rochelle Stevens Invitational Track Meet is the largest independent meet in the southern states which is held annually Memorial Day Weekend.
